Thread veins or spider veins are damages enlarged veins and capillaries just under the skin surface.
As we age, our skin loses collage and becomes thinner. So when veins expand, they become visible through the skin.
Prominent threat veins can be inherited, but they are also often caused by prolonged sun exposure, pregnancy, steroid creams, alcohol, smoke and standing for long periods. Sclerotherapy is indicated for the treatment of thread veins on the legs. It is not used on the face. Sclerotherapy involves injecting a solution directly into the affected blood vessel using a very fine needle. A number of thread veins can be treated in one session though some veins may need a second session.
